Fiona Meikle’s mum Jean was just short of 90 years old when she moved to Churchill Living’s Eddington Lodge in Kendal, quite literally from one end of the country to another.
Fiona’s verdict: “I have to say that the move to Churchill Living has been an incredibly positive one!”
“She had to leave her home, garden, her friends and community behind,” explains Fiona. “However, as soon as she was settled into her new apartment, she was warmly welcomed by the residents and the Lodge Manager. All of her concerns about moving have disappeared, as she now has a firm circle of friends that she can pop to see, in the other apartments, at any time.
“There are daily and weekly social events, which she can attend as much as she likes. There are wine evenings; fish and chip suppers; movie nights and games and events all the time. Mum now has a busier social schedule than ever!
“A special mention should go out to the Manager of Eddington Lodge, Pamela, who goes above and beyond at all times to make sure that all the residents are looked after in every way! She provides an incredibly varied social calendar, and goes the extra mile for people on a daily basis.
“The 90th birthday party that was hosted in the lounge for Mum was incredibly special. Not only friends and family gathered to celebrate her special day, but also all the other residents came to celebrate with her, enjoying a buffet lunch and a singer, who was another resident in the Lodge. It was an incredible day for her, and one which I'm sure she will always cherish.”
