Residents at Bond Lodge in Rainham have raised £700 for Dementia UK with an exciting charity ‘Sports Day’ event last month.
The sports day took place in the modern communal lounge and landscaped gardens at the Churchill Living development, with around 20 residents taking part throughout the day. Sporting events included the old-school classics of Egg and Spoon Race, Pass the Ball Down the Line, Hula Hoop Bean Bag Toss, Tin Can Alley and Mini-Golf.
The activities were followed by a medal and trophy ceremony creating a jubilant atmosphere among the residents. Churchill’s own charity, the Churchill Foundation, supported the day with match funding to double the £350 total raised by the Bond Lodge community.
Lodge Manager Charlotte Wilkinson said: “Everyone had a great time at our charity sports day. The teams had a healthy competitive spirit, and a lot of fun was had. We selected Dementia UK as our chosen charity as their cause deeply resonates with our residents. We’re grateful for such generous donations and the match funding by the Churchill Foundation which doubled the amount we were able to donate to such an amazing cause. The community at Bond Lodge are such a lovely group, and we’re grateful to all the residents who took part, and those who donated.”
