Churchill founders’ mum finds new lease of life at Lymington’s Clinton Lodge

Churchill Living’s Clinton Lodge in Lymington has received the ultimate seal of approval as it has become home to the mother of the company’s co-founders.

Eileen McCarthy, who grew up in Lymington, has recently moved into a Churchill Living apartment at Clinton Lodge, which is named after her son and Churchill Living Managing Director Clinton McCarthy.

Like many older homeowners, Eileen had begun to find her previous bungalow increasingly difficult to maintain. While she valued her independence, she was also looking for greater peace of mind, security and a stronger sense of community.

Her son Spencer McCarthy, Chairman and Co-Founder of Churchill Living, said:
“Maintaining a larger property was becoming more challenging for Mum and it was starting to knock her confidence. She was less inclined to go out in the evenings or drive to the shops, particularly after dark. We talked through all the options available to her and one of those was moving to one of our own developments here in Lymington, close to where she grew up.”

Since making the move, Eileen has settled quickly into life at Clinton Lodge, enjoying the low maintenance lifestyle and the opportunity to socialise with other Owners.

Spencer added:
“We see it time and again with our Owners. Downsizing can bring real peace of mind and a new lease of life. That’s certainly been the case for Mum. She’s sleeping better, she’s made new friends and she loves knowing there are people around she trusts, with help on hand if she ever needs it. To make it even more special, our aunt and uncle have moved in next door.”

For Spencer, seeing his own family benefit from the Churchill Living lifestyle reinforces the company’s founding principles.

He said:
“We all want the best for our parents. The value of our apartments goes far beyond bricks and mortar. It’s about maintaining independence, feeling secure and making the most of later life. Knowing Mum feels safe and happy is also a huge reassurance for us as a family.”

Churchill Living recently announced that it has scrapped all exit fees across its developments, part of an ongoing commitment to transparency and putting customers first.

Clinton Lodge is located in the desirable Georgian market town of Lymington, ideally positioned close to the town centre. The area is home to a wide variety of High Street stores, supermarkets and independent boutiques, as well as an excellent choice of cafes and restaurants, many centred around the picturesque Old Town Quay.

The traditional South Coast market town offers a wide range of facilities including a weekly street market selling local produce, a hospital for routine appointments, sailing clubs, a leisure centre and an outdoor seawater swimming pool. A car and passenger ferry also operates from Lymington to the Isle of Wight.

The New Forest National Park is close by, providing opportunities to enjoy the surrounding natural landscape, while the Lymington Centre, the town’s community hub, offers a café, cinema, theatre and a programme of leisure, education and fitness classes.
