Pupils from St Peter and St Paul Church of England (VA) Primary School were given a behind-the-scenes look at the world of construction during an educational visit to Saxon Lodge, a new Churchill Living development currently under construction in Little Common, near Bexhill-on-Sea.
During the visit, pupils met members of the Churchill Living site team and learned about the different roles involved in delivering a new development, as well as the importance of site safety. The session offered a practical insight into how construction sites operate and highlighted how safety measures are used to protect workers and visitors.
Angela Hamil, Head Teacher at St Peter and St Paul Church of England (VA) Primary School, said: “Children from St Peter and St Paul CE Primary School had a wonderful morning looking around the Churchill Living site in Little Common. The children found out all about jobs in the construction industry and were fascinated by the skills on display, including learning to walk on stilts! We are very grateful to Max for inviting us and to Joe for showing the children around with such enthusiasm and care. The children loved the experience and have not stopped talking about it”.
Construction is well underway at Saxon Lodge, which will offer a collection of 35 one- and two-bedroom apartments designed for the over 60s in the desirable village of Little Common, on the edge of Bexhill-on-Sea. The village centre offers a wide range of amenities, including shops, healthcare facilities, pharmacies, cafés and restaurants, while Cooden Beach is also conveniently located nearby.
Charlie Gray, Marketing Lead for Churchill Living South East, commented: “We’re always keen to build strong links with the local community and to help young people understand the variety of roles involved in construction. It was a pleasure to welcome the pupils to Saxon Lodge and to talk to them about site safety and the teamwork required to deliver our high-quality Lodges.”
Every apartment at Saxon Lodge will be completely self-contained with their own front door, offering privacy and independence and there is a choice of one- and two-bedroom apartments, each varying slightly in layout and dimensions. Owners will also benefit from use of the exclusive Owners’ Lounge with coffee bar provides a welcoming space overlooking landscaped gardens.
Construction is progressing well, with first occupations anticipated in summer 2026.
