Totton-based charity Youth and Families Matter (YFM) has received a £2,00 funding boost from the Churchill Foundation.
YFM provides support, education and training to enable people to better cope with their circumstances and develop the skills and confidence to improve them. For over 30 years its work has been shaped around the needs of the people it helps within Totton. This currently includes one-to-one support for those in need, as well as hardship support, parenting courses, group sessions, and a range of other targeted projects.
The charity, which was honoured with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2020, was put forward for a donation through the Churchill Foundation’s Small Grants programme. It was nominated by Churchill’s Head of Technical Alex Naraian, who has a close personal connection with YFM and its work.
On 21st May Alex and other Churchill colleagues joined members of the YFM team to learn more about its vital work and hear first-hand about the support it provides.
YFM Project Leader Kelly Price said:
“We’re extremely grateful to the Churchill Foundation for this generous donation, which makes a big difference to a grass roots charity of our size. It will help us to keep funding the unique one-to-one support we provide to children who really need it, and where our ability to work together with local schools and provide help at an early stage is such an essential lifeline.”
Churchill’s Alex Naraian added:
“The Churchill Foundation was created to help us give something back to the communities where we live and work, and I feel very privileged to be able to do this for YFM, a charity that makes a huge difference to so many people here in Totton.”
