We've given a warm welcome to our first new Owners at Clementine Lodge in Bicester, who enjoy being a part of the safe and friendly community of over 60s and are making the most of the independence on offer in their new apartments.
Marilyn Holdaway was among the very first to move in, and the move has given her the freedom and confidence to try other new things. She says: “I wanted to be amongst like-minded people, and have that sense of security that comes from knowing there will always be familiar faces nearby, even if it’s just to say a quick hello to on my way in and out of the building. Since moving here I’ve joined a choir, and sung in public for the first time! We’re called ‘Cloud 9’ and we’ve performed at various local venues, and raised lots for charity. It’s very joyful, sociable and a lot of fun!”
Vera Logue was also among the first to move in, and is enjoying the sense of community. She says: “I like to keep myself busy, but when I’m not out and about it’s nice to know there are other like-minded people around who I can chat to or share a cup of tea with. That’s what moving here was all about for me, and I’m very glad to have done it.”
Another new member of the community is Colin Swindale, who moved from Winslow to be closer to his son and daughter in Bicester, and was delighted to receive a helping hand from Churchill. He says: “Churchill’s Home Exchange service made the process easy and stress free, I got a good deal on my old house and it all went very smoothly. I’m aware that some other retirement developments have high service charges, but at Clementine Lodge it’s very reasonable, clear to understand and good value for money. By the time I added up all the things I’d have had to pay for in my old house I’m actually better off. Plus there’s nothing unexpected, so it’s easy to budget for.”
As one of the newest Owners to move in, Barbara Herbert is also settling in well, and says: “I felt quite isolated in my old house and decided that I wanted to be closer to other people. I came to lots of social events whilst I was considering the move, so that I could get to know all the other people here and be sure I was making the right decision. Now that I’m in I feel very relaxed and comfortable. I already feel like part of the family, and everyone has been very welcoming.”
Barbara’s daughter Kathryn is also delighted to see her mum so settled, adding: “Since moving to Clementine Lodge mum’s been a different person, she’s so much more happy and relaxed! It’s a huge weight off my mind to know that she’s here and comfortably settled into her new apartment. It’s great to see her making new friends and enjoying a nice, peaceful time without any worry or stress.”
Clementine Lodge is close to local shops and amenities, so residents have public transport links available nearby and everything they need within walking distance. The development itself comprises 41 one and two bedroom apartments, all of which are self-contained, with colour co-ordinated kitchens and beautifully landscaped gardens. Designed with ease of living in mind, all apartments come equipped with a 24-hour Careline support system, and secure camera entry system for extra peace of mind. Residents also have access to the exclusive Communal Lounge, complete with Wi-Fi and a coffee bar to socialise.
