Stan and Cherry celebrate their 65th Wedding Anniversary at Colebrooke Lodge

Stan and Cherry Moyce recently marked their 65th Wedding Anniversary, which they celebrated by going out for lunch with their two daughters and family who all live near to their new home at Colebrooke Lodge in Reigate.

They met at the YMCA in Croydon, and after tying the knot when Stan was 22 and Cherry was 20, the couple both agree that the secret of a happy and long-lasting marriage is “a bit of give and take!”

They’ve enjoyed many adventures during their lifetime together, including following Stan’s passion for veteran cars which took them on rallies from London to Brighton and even across Europe.

Stan says:
“I used to be a car mechanic and worked on lots of old cars. I had an old Renault that I used to drive a lot, and several other cars that were lent to me by customers. We did the London to Brighton many times and went abroad to other events like the Dutch Veteran Car Rally in Holland, and once we did some filming on location with Michael Palin in one of the cars. Cherry always enjoyed coming along for the ride, and we even had our two girls in the back when they were young!”

“We moved to Colebrooke Lodge about four years ago and it’s the best thing we’ve done,” he adds. “We have regular social events we can join in with like fish and chip lunches and film nights, and when we don’t want to join in we can have peace and quiet in our apartment.”
