Churchill Living Partnerships, the new arm of leading retirement living specialist Churchill Living, and Housing 21, a leading not-for-profit provider of Retirement Living and Extra Care, have agreed a development partnership to deliver a range of new affordable retirement living communities across the country.
The partnership will initially deliver two new developments in highly accessible locations in Banbury and Shaftesbury, with a further three sites to commence in the second half of 2026 in Andover, Felixstowe and Gravesend, which in total comprise 309 high-quality retirement living apartments for social rent.
These new developments for social rent will provide safe, quality and affordable properties designed to meet the needs of older people and enable them to enjoy independent living within a community setting.
The new homes delivered will benefit from Churchill’s highly disciplined design and build processes, harnessing the company’s market leading expertise to deliver a quality product at an affordable price. The Churchill Living Group has built over 200 of its own ‘for sale’ retirement developments, and has a strong track record of delivery, award-winning customer service and quality. This includes an HBF 5 Star customer satisfaction rating for ten consecutive years, and Gold WhatHouse Award for Best Retirement Home Developer three years in a row.
Housing 21 owns and manages over 24,000 properties across the country and is committed to ensuring the delivery and retention of older people’s housing to meet the needs of an increasing older population.
Tony Tench, Deputy Chief Executive at Housing 21 says:
“This is a great opportunity to work with Churchill Living Partnerships to deliver more much needed quality social rented homes, specifically designed to meet the needs and preferences of older people.”
Spencer J McCarthy, Chairman & CEO at Churchill, says:
“This exciting partnership with Housing 21 marks the first major milestone for our new dedicated Churchill Partnerships arm. We established the partnership business early in 2025, under the leadership of experienced Board member Martin Young, in his new role as Partnerships Managing Director, in response to the Government’s drive for more and better housing and the growing demand for specialist affordable retirement accommodation in the UK. This agreement marks the first step on this journey, and we look forward to working with Housing 21 and other providers to deliver similar projects, helping to meet the changing needs of an ageing population across the country.”
